The Immortal McDonald's French Fries

Morgan Spurlock is the man behind Supersize Me, the documentary in which he tortured himself by eating McDonald’s three times a day for 30 days. The results of his experiment were jaw dropping. He gained 24.5 lbd. (11.1 kg), his cholesterol and blood sugar skyrocketed and fat started accumulating in his liver. Furthermore, his wife claimed his sexual performance wasn’t what it used to be and he had mood swings. This experiment shocked The States and made people rethink their fast-food habits.

A couple of years ago, I found another experiment by Morgan, which I came across recently again. Suitable for Trending Toothpick, I thought! In this experiment he wonders what happens to McDonald’s food when you leave it in a glass jar for a while. These results weren’t pretty either. We added the clip so you can see what happens..

To start the experiment, the following items were purchased:
-          - Big Mac
-          - Chicken McGrill
-          - Filet o’fish
-          - Quarter Pounder
-          - French Fries
-          - Classic Burger (non-McDonalds)
-          - French Fries (non-McDonalds)

Two weeks into the experiment, most of the food started to mold pretty bad, especially the non-McDonald’s burger and fries. The Micky D fries and the Bic Mac, however, didn’t show any signs of mold.

After three weeks, all the burgers start to look like aliens. The regular fries are totally black and the Classic burger from down the street turned into a furry mammal. Quote: “Big Mac still looks like we just bought that thing! Only lettuce is a little moldy”. The fries still look like they bought it yesterday!! This makes no sense! Almost a month after buying a Big Mac and Fries you might still mistakenly eat the things – that’s how tasty they still look!

The film continues and they update every week on how the food looks like. The burgers look more and more nasty every week and they throw away the non-McDonald’s food after the third week because the intern was disgusted by it. The only survivors in the group is are the French Fries. After ten weeks, shockingly enough, they still look like nothing’s wrong with them. No mold, no strange smells, nothing! You start to wonder what that crap is made of! And more importantly; why do we eat it?!

After ten weeks all the food is thrown out, the French fries too, by mistake. The movie ends with the question; “how long would they have lasted?” Well, Bryan Marcel put it to the test. In his video he shows you 1 year old fries that still look great! What the hell!??!

And then, when you wouldn’t think anyone would dare to preserve it any longer – the next video pops up. In this clip, a McDonald’s Happy Meal hamburger + Fries have been lying around for 4 years. The results: well, check is out yourself..

You might want to think again before ordering McDonald’s next time…
